James (Jimmy) Skonberg Sr. is a life-long resident of Ouzinkie. The highlight of his life was getting married and raising a family. Jimmy started working at the age of 13, after losing his dad. This really shaped him into the kind of responsible adult he has become. He has been a commercial fisherman for 50 years, and credits his experience running his own boats over the past 40 years with how he has developed his sound business sense. 

Jimmy has served the ONC Board of Directors since the early 1970's. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Katmai Government Services, Koncor Forest Products, and previously on the Gulf of Alaska Coastal Communities Coalition (GOAC3). He is also very involved in the commercial fishing policy process. In the past, Jimmy has also served on the Ouzinkie School Board, Ouzinkie City Council, and Ouzinkie Tribal Council. Jimmy's greatest joy today is being able to fish in the summer with his grandsons as part of his crew.
